OR-ID AC Update no. 4 | Tuesday, May 9, 2023

Dear Annual Conference members,

Greetings to you with less than one month until our AC session! This edition of the Annual Conference update includes reminders, ways to engage in some work ahead of Annual Conference and details about some new opportunities headed your way! So let’s dive into our work!

Bishop Cedrick installation + GNW opening worship

On May 20, Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth will be formally installed as the episcopal leader of the Greater Northwest Area, and it will also serve as the opening worship service for the GNW Area annual conference sessions with his episcopal address. The service is being held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Juneau, AK, starting at 2 p.m. AKT, 3 p.m. PDT, 4 p.m. MDT. | The worship service will be livestreamed on the homepage of our website at www.greaternw.org/installation.

No-fee registration deadline is May 15, other details

If you are planning on attending Annual Conference June 8-11, you need to register by May 15 to avoid any late fees. For those attending in person, no meals will be available if you register after May 15.

    • A small number of Boise-area AC members may be planning to participate in annual conference in person on some days but via zoom on other days. Remaining hotel room block expires Wednesday

If you haven’t reserved a hotel room for Annual Conference, you can still contact the hotels listed on our website, but there will be no group discount rate available. The hotel block at Townplace Suites Boise West expires Wednesday. | Be sure to visit www.umoi.org/achost if you haven’t yet made reservations.

Bring your UMCOR disaster response kits to Boise

This year, the Oregon-Idaho Conference disaster response team is asking for churches to contribute either hygiene kits or cleaning buckets for Annual Conference. Interim Conference Disaster Response Coordinator Louise Kienzle will be on hand to collect kits, but is also looking for partners able to transport kits to various storage sites throughout the Conference after the session ends. | Read more about how to participate on our Conference website.

The meaning behind the ‘Go & Do Likewise’ sessions

Through three different sessions, called, “Go and Do Likewise,” we will be invited to engage in practices, workshops, and even walking tours that will help us do just that in our own churches, ministry settings, and communities. In these sessions, you will explore in tangible ways how you might be in service to and among others in your community. Make sure you’re picking the right opportunities for you as you register for AC! | Read more about this new addition to the AC lineup on our Website.

Pre-Conference reports now available, along with Legislative Assembly recommendations
